Smoothie Fiend

Now that summer is well and truly here the delicious summer fruits are in abundance. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries - all the berries! Here are some of our favourite berry smoothies: 

Mixed Berry Smoothie 

This Recipe is super quick and easy, and makes up to three serves. Simply take a half punnet of blueberries, a small handful of raspberries (I don’t add many as I find them to be quite tart), a full punnet of chopped strawberries and add to the blender. Throw in 2/3 cup of organic coconut yoghurt, 1/3 cup of almond mylk, a small handful of ice cubes, and a tablespoon of maple syrup. Blend until desired consistency is reached and enjoy!

Sunshine Smoothie 

Mangoes are a delicious treat to enjoy over summer. This recipe lets this super fruit shine. Add to your blender one ripe mango and half a ripe banana, chopped into chunks. Squeeze in one tablespoon of fresh lime juice. Throw in two large chunks of watermelon, a small handful of ice cubes and two tablespoons of maple or agave syrup. You can add a small grating of ginger to taste. Blend until desired consistency is reached and enjoy.

Now you can't get that awful song out of your head, can you? Sorry for that (it was by an artist named 'Sade', released in 1984...think tragic 80s pop for those who don't know). Anyway, I digress. Now that spring is upon us, and warmer weather isn't too far away, we've decided to refresh our smoothie recipe collection. I thought we'd share our standouts:

Banana, Mango and Pineapple Smoothie

Add one frozen banana, one diced mango and one small tin of diced pineapple (with juice) to the blender. Pour in a half a carton of coconut water (or you can add almond mylk if you're not keen on coconuts). Blend until smooth and serve. 

Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Blend until smooth one frozen banana, one and a half cups almond mylk, one tablespoon peanut butter, one teaspoon maple syrup, one tablespoon chia seeds, two tablespoons cacao powder and four medjool dates. 

Berry Smoothie

Add one cup of frozen blueberries, half cup frozen strawberries, one kiwi fruit, three medjool dates and one cup of almond mylk to blender. Blend until smooth and serve.

Classic Green Smoothie

Blend two handfuls of baby spinach, one frozen banana, one kiwi fruit, one small tin diced pineapple (with juice), two medjool dates, half cup almond mylk, one teaspoon maple syrup, and one cup ice. Blend until smooth and serve.

Enjoy your smoothie in the sun with a nice book while the little one's play! They might even love to try an unsweetened (minus maple syrup) version in their sippy cups!
