Celebrate - DIY Woodland Themed First Birthday

Our baby girl turns one soon, I can’t believe it! I don’t want to be cliche and say it - but I’m going to be cliche and say that it just goes too quick! As this is a huge milestone I knew we wanted to have a party to celebrate. My little ones nursery features hints of a woodland theme, with bunnies as the character of choice, so I chose to go with this overarching theme for the party as ‘Some Bunny Is Turning One’.

It is super easy to DIY a couple of woodland decorations to add to the party decor. Most of these items can be found at a local park, just make sure you are only taking items that have naturally fallen so as to not disturb the flora. Below are some ideas for your woodland themed party.

Wooden Cake Stand

This is so easy to make if you have the right tools in your garden shed (which most husbands - and some wives - tend to do). Using a saw, cut slices from a log (you can use any size log you wish and cut slices as thick or as thin as you please - it all depends on the measurements of what you will be placing on top of your ‘stand’). Once you have made your wooden cake stand you can make additional smaller stands to place lolly jars or to place vases, such as the ones below.

Mason Jar Vase

Again, these too are super easy to make. Simply take an old washed mason jar and tie your choice of rustic ribbon or piece of twine around the top. As an option, you can also add some doily paper around the middle too. Fill with your choice of flower from the garden. We suggest placing the jar atop of a mini wood cut off for added effect.
